NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS OF JOPLIN'S WASTEWATER SERVICE
Under Missouri State law, Missouri American Water, a privately operated water company, must disconnect water services for non-payment of sewer charges operated by municipalities. Non-payment of sewer charges can result in water services being shut off.

Effective March 1, 2024, Missouri American Water's disconnection and reconnection fee will move to $188. MoAm Water determines this rate, and it has not changed this since 2012, although the service cost has increased since that time.

In the event of water disconnection due to non-payment of sewer charges, a customer must pay the total amount of the outstanding sewer charges, in addition to the third-party fee assessed by American Water to restore water service.

If unforeseen circumstances prevent the timely payment of a sewer bill, the City encourages customers to call 417-627-2955.

Wastewater services are provided through the City's two wastewater treatment plants in Joplin, and customers receive their biling statements from the City's Utility Division. Sewer charges solely support the $115 million sewer system and service to Joplin residents and businesses.
